Understanding your maximum heart rate and resting heart rates

You can measure your heart rate during cardio exercises to see how hard you are pushing yourself. How to use the chart:

  1. Subtract 220 from your age to get your maximum heartbeat (Calculate 160 as the full heartbeat for a 60-year-old by subtracting 60).
  2. Calculate the ranges you want to achieve by multiplying your heart rate maximum by the range percentages you aim for. (For a 60-year-old doing light exercise, multiply 160 by 0.50 and 0.60 for an 80-96 beats-per-minute range)
